Hello Parents and Students,

We had a wonderful day working on our Ecosystem Posters! Pictures will be posted by Friday evening. If your child did not return all the signed documents, I sent home an extra copy of what they needed. Please return it tomorrow and have your electric bill right along with it (that's if you have not sent it in yet). Don't forget the scholastic news paper payment of $5.00. This will get your child a whole school year subscription. So, please have that in by this Friday as well.

Home work- There is no homework for tonight. However, I did assign Thursday night's homework. Reading pwb page 1 and Language Arts sheet 2.

Thanks for all that you do in supporting your child.

Crazy About Science!

Hello Parents and Students,
We had a day filled with learning and exploring different types of Ecosystems. Each group was assigned an ecosystem where they had to research the climate conditions, habitats, and regional location. They were given a set of animal cards that had a variety of animals that can live in only certain ecosystems. As they collaborated in drawing and researching, I was amazed at how creative and resourceful they were...they are young scientists, exploring the world in which they live. Keep up the good work in encouraging them to do their best in school.

Homework- Language Arts sheet page 1
Math- (only Brown's Math) Skills sheet 1

If you have not sent in a power bill for a proof of residence, please send it to the office by Friday. Thank you!

Second Day!!!

Hello Parents and Students,

We made it through our second day of school...wheww and had a lot of fun!  There were about three more students who introduced themselves through showing awesome and neat pictures of their scrapbook sheet.

If you have not already returned your child’s forms, please do so by Friday.

Science
We began writing in our science notebook! We are starting off on Biomes of the world. Your child learned all the six major biomes and played a charade game for reinforcement. Tomorrow, we will be learning about ecosystems, communities, and population. Depending on how fast we move, we may have our biomes test by August 31! We'll see.
Don't forget to bring in 2 liter bottles for our terrariums! Thank you!

Homework for tonight- draw and color the solar system. Remember the order- sun, mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and no Pluto :(

Welcome To Mrs. Brown's 5th Grade Class!!!!

Hello Parents and Students,

We had such and awesome first day of school! I really enjoyed having the students talk about their interest in music, sports, and other recreational hobbies.  One of the most bizarre hobbies was the knife and bumble bee collection...pretty cool.  Tomorrow, we will get right into doing our daily procedures such as morning work, vocabulary and spelling words, and the introduction to science (my favorite subject).
Your child should have come home with a lot of papers for you to sign, date, and return back to school tomorrow. If you cannot for any reason get them back into me tomorrow, please feel free to get them to me by Friday. Also, if you did not visit during Open House last Thursday, your child missed out on getting their scrapbook activity in. I sent home the scrapbook paper inside of a large plastic bag, and it will be due by Friday.
Finally, I will need for the students to bring in three plastic bottles washed and please remove the wrapping for we will start our lesson on Ecosystems tomorrow.
I look forward to working with you this year as we both help your child reach higher heights.
